Adapted from a photo of the Thai resort town, we look out over the water at an island as the sun sets. Breakers distort the close ocean surface, and the sun cuts through the haze in bright hues.

Also inspired by the afroed master Bob Ross, I executed this winter scene a bit better than the previous one and thought of Cleveland where I grew up as I drew. I remember the stillness and quiet outside when the snow fell. And the creek behind the fence at my house that froze and filled with snow on its banks and in the trees.

Inspired by an old Bob Ross episode alive on YouTube, I started to work out fire and shadows on the Surface. Not there yet surely, but fun to try to make it look like something and keep moving forward.

Learning SketchBook and this thing comes about. The background comes straight from a lo-fi video game, the character a confusion of circle-shapes with a disproportionate body, and the colors trip everything out - a magic mushroom from Mario ingested on the scene. Thank you GIMP.

Listening to The War of Art and picking up the pad. Steven Pressfield's book is really hitting home. It's like he reads my mind, but I guess the monologue echoes the same in lots of us. This is an artifact showing the slaying of the dragon start.

Simulated markers and fake paints and a callback to the early days. Quick and fast and without judgement. Pen on paper and progress by going through the motions. Not worthless.

These days I practice my Thai writing by copying full sentences. I use a Microsoft Surface that I can draw on which makes this very easy. I also have a few sample chapters from Glossika with lots of sentences. These examples are nice because they have the tone maps for the sounds and an English transliteration.

I practiced writing Thai consonants in the beginning by tracing the shapes in different colors. For me, this was a good way to learn the new hand motions needed to write Thai letters. I read and copy whole sentences now instead of tracing letters, but this was great in the first days.

Layers of atmosphere like you see in pictures of Saturn. An intruder of some kind in the sky with an ominous but cute tail. Floating because there's no solid surface. A porous planet that fleeces a comet, but lets it pass through.
